Book
The Malaysian Economy
This book provides a critical analysis of the structures of the Malayan and later, the Malaysian economies, viewed through the lens of dependence theory. It analyzes how structures of dependence were established during the British colonial era and persisted in the post-colonial period, specifically examining dependence in foreign ownership of key sectors, trade, finance, the public sector, and technology. The author also provides estimations on the surpluses transferred out of colonized Malaya under British rule. The work is significant for capturing the economic dynamics of the colonial and post-colonial periods of Malaysia.
